Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks

Sequoia

The RV park that we stayed at while visiting Sequoia National Park was in Lemon Cove, CA. It was one of the most beautiful settings we have stayed at so far. There were lemon and orange trees everywhere and as we stepped out of our truck all you could smell were the blossoms on all of the trees. Our drive into the park was just gorgeous as well. The mountains, with rivers running through them, and beautiful lakes nestled at the bottom looked just like a painting.

The Sequoia National Park is home to the world’s largest tree by volume; the General Sherman. This tree was our destination in the park but we stopped and checked out lots of other trees and views along the way. There was a lot of snow up in the mountains, and the Knutson clan was not dressed for the weather! We were all dressed in shorts and t-shirts, and Ada was even wearing flip flops. All of the other tourists were wearing big puffy coats, hats and mitts…I think everyone was looking at us funny as we hiked down to the tree. We just needed “I am Canadian” shirts and we would have been fine!

We saw a few deer grazing in a field on our way out of the park!

We stayed in Oakhurtst, California for our visit to Yosemite National Park. It was a very windy, twisty, steep and sometimes scary road that brought us into the park. It was also raining and foggy the day that we had planned to go visit the park, but we decided to head in anyway. We probably should have turned around and headed back in another day, because we didn't get to explore as much as we would have liked. Once again we were not dressed for the weather! We were the crazy family in shorts and t-shirts again, and Eric was the only one who had a raincoat with him. We just haven't even had to deal with cold weather for so long, I have forgotten how to prepare for it!

Once we got into Yosemite Valley, the fog cleared up a little and we were able to see the beautiful towering mountains and waterfalls around us. We got out at bridalveil falls and hiked right up to the bottom of the waterfall. We were wet already from the rain so a little more mist from the waterfall was no big deal!
